Where We Started, and Where We're Going

The idea for opening Enid Axe started as a joke. The changing landscape of the world in 2020 ended many careers, including that of our founder, Lafe Coldwater. Having seen so many people lose family, friends, and themselves, he wanted to make a place that was an escape from daily life. Enter: Enid Axe.

After touring close to 20 different different axe houses across Oklahoma and surrounding states, taking notes on what he did and didn't like, the base of Enid Axe began to take shape. Rather than putting two lanes within the same cage, each lane would be separated so throwers didn't have to worry about the people next to them. Instead of hard wooden boards, we would use softer, locally sourced rounds of cottonwood and sycamore trees. With rubber shielding on the bottom and sides, we aimed to make Enid Axe as safe as axe throwing can be without taking away from the fun.

Over the years, we have continued to improve. We partnered with Axcitement projection targets, giving each lane a slew of games to play, from traditional target styles to zombie hunting to battleship and beyond. We added different styles of throwing stars, and even knife rentals to offer further challenges and even more fun! But we weren't satisfied with just some top-notch axe throwing. Multiple pool tables, dart boards, and arcade games, a surefire way to make sure that nobody what you like to do, you can do it at Enid Axe!

In October of 2022, we got rid of our "party room" in the back of the building and opened up our bar. Originally named Liquor in the Axe, and eventually rebranded as Enid Axe Mixology. we aimed to create an upscale cocktail bar that's smoke free and full of amazing flavors. We opened with one of the largest liquor selections in the state of Oklahoma and have only grown since then, with over 1000 different bottles as well as a wide variety of beer on tap.

In 2024, we went even further with the addition of Hunt Brother's Pizza and our shooting simulator. Having Hunt Brother's in our shop allows us to make not just pizza, but an entire slew of snack items as well. Our shooting simulator comes with an entire armory's worth of weapons adapted with lasers to allow for a realistic feel while still being completely safe, as well as 12+ games to play.

Sadly, Lafe stepped away from Enid Axe in 2025 in order to spend more time with his family. He left it in the very capable hands of some of his most trusted people: Brook Taylor, Denise Eckert, and Daylon Caruthers. Under their guidance, Enid Axe has continued to grow and flourish.

Jumping to the present, Enid Axe and Mixology are better than ever. With karaoke, music bingo, live music, and more events, there's always something going down! So come in, grab a beer, some pizza, an axe, and have some fun!
